“I’m inspired by where architecture meets psychology—how the spaces we inhabit can shape our emotions, behavior, and well-being. It’s the reason I became an architect, with the hopes of uplifting, comforting, and exciting people.”
Chelsia Sooksengdao
Originally from Kansas City, MO, Chelsia is a first-generation college student, graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Arkansas.
Prior to joining Wheeler Kearns Architects in 2024, Chelsia worked at Thomas Shafer Architects, a residential practice in Evanston, IL, and Eastlake Studio in Chicago, IL, where she led and assisted corporate interiors projects from schematics through construction, developing a comprehensive set of skills managing creative, interiors, and architectural aspects of projects. Building on her prior experience, Chelsia is passionate about crafting spaces that positively impact behavior and well-being—shaping educational, institutional, and residential projects with a keen understanding of design, technical details, and materiality.
Outside the office, Chelsia enjoys a good book, live music, and practicing yoga. She loves discovering new restaurants and connecting with friends over a martini or at the farmer’s market. At home, she snuggles up with her chunky cat Arby to watch Harry Potter on repeat.
