WKA collaborated with the artist, Antonia Contro, on the design and construction of the installation of her show Tempus Fugit (Time Flies) at the American Philosophical Society, founded by Benjamin Franklin. Ms. Contro selected pieces of the Society’s collection of books and artifacts pairing them with personal interactive responses. The APS’s primary, highly articulated, gallery was painted a flat grey and lit as minimally as code allowed. The analogy of an opened book was used, with a 10 foot high folded plane floating free from the walls/ceilings of the space. A discreet timeline was inscribed into the painted MDF skin via CNC routing, onto/above a series of recessed illuminated cases were placed. A projected video loop anchors the exhibition.
