Open Books converted a pre-existing retail storefront into a nonprofit store for used books dedicated to the community. This site marks the organization’s second bookstore branch, with Open Books Logan Square set to become a prominent community-focused bookstore, spanning 4,300 square feet and stocked with diverse reading materials. All profits generated contribute to local literacy initiatives and enhance access to culturally significant books for Chicago readers of all ages. WKA oversaw the project from design development through construction and delivered the final product within a budget of under $100k. The establishment subsequently received the 2022 Chicago Recovery Plan – Community Development Grant.
