Asian Improv aRts Midwest (AIRMW), a nonprofit organization dedicated to building a vital, self-empowered Asian American community in the Chicago area through the cultural arts, transformed an existing office building into its first permanent home and cultural hub. The 4,000 square foot space provides practice space for AIRMW’s dozens of annual performances in Chicago’s public spaces and parks, with a stage, storage for taiko drums, instruments, costumes, and offices and meeting areas for staff. This gut renovation included plumbing, electrical, and accessibility upgrades and reconfiguring spaces to serve the organization’s needs better.
