In March 2016, WKA was selected by Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art to convert a decommissioned Kraft cheese plant into a space for Contemporary Art in Bentonville, Arkansas. WKA took an office-wide trip to Arkansas in July to experience the building, explore the growing city, and of course immerse ourselves in the local culture!
In Bentonville, we toured Frank Lloyd Wright’s Bachman-Wilson House, the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, and the 8th Street Market—a development underway that will house food retail and a culinary arts school. We then traveled to the historic mountainside city of Eureka Springs and toured the E. Fay Jones Thorncrown Chapel. In Fayetteville, Marlon Blackwell Architects led us on a tour of their new office and several of their award winning projects, including the Steven L. Anderson Design Center at the University of Arkansas. We properly concluded the trip with a visit to Crepes Paulette & a family-style fried chicken lunch at Monte Ne Inn Chicken.
