Art In Motion recently celebrated the completion of its 110,000-square-foot expansion and adaptive reuse project at 7415 South East End Avenue in Chicago’s Grand Crossing neighborhood. Founded in 2019 in partnership with artist COMMON, New Life Covenant Church, and Distinctive Schools, this grade 7–12 charter high school offers students extensive opportunities in visual arts, music, digital media, dance, and literary arts. The project transformed a 1917 industrial building into a dynamic learning environment centered around “Main Street,” a circulation spine connecting traditional classrooms, creative arts studios, a performance space, and three courtyards that bring in natural light. An outdoor plaza, repurposed from a former loading dock, serves as a gathering space for recreation and performances.
