On Friday, February 16th, WKA celebrated the completion of the gymnasium expansion at Hansberry College Prep. Twelve years in the making, the addition unearthed foundations laid in 2012 to build spectator seating and storage for the original gym built in the 1950’s. The new structure is built of precast concrete wall panels, matching the original campus expansion. An eighty-foot-long steel truss supports a double-height opening to the addition where more than 300 spectators can now cheer on their athletes and performers. The project represents a significant investment in the students, the school, and the broader community, providing a more functional multipurpose space for public events.
