Erica Wannemacher

Erica is passionate about creating and adapting physical environments to improve quality of life for all individuals and the positive impact architecture has on the community.

Erica joined the Wheeler Kearns team in 2017 and previously worked at Booth Hansen. While at Booth Hansen, Erica was the Project Architect of 61 E. Banks, an eight story multifamily project in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood and a new single-family residence in New Buffalo, Michigan.

At Wheeler Kearns, Erica has worked on multi-family residential, single family residential and with the West Suburban Community Pantry. Erica is currently the Project Architect for The Night Ministry’s new home for its administrative offices and temporary overnight young adult shelter known as The Crib. The project entails the renovation of three floors of an existing manufacturing building into an environment that supports The Night Ministry’s mission by providing a safe, hopeful space for those struggling with housing insecurity, while also supporting the staff and administration who make this work possible. The project is currently in Construction Documentation and is scheduled to be completed in December 2019.

Erica has served as co-director of outreach and a project leader for Open Architecture Collaborative Chicago (formerly Architecture for Humanity Chicago) for over four years. She is also involved with the local Chicago AIA and has participated in Bridge and TransFORM. She is a licensed architect in Illinois and lives in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood.
